Applesauce Day!

Wednesday was yet another beautiful Fall day.  Love that we can be outside most of our day!  We welcomed another family to our group this week!  So happy to have Richelle and her daughter Abigail!
We had fun spinning our apples this week to make warm applesauce (even though it was super chunky it still tasted yummy).  I love cooking with children and I can tell these kids cook at home quite a bit!  I actually came home and made applesauce for my family too!

There was lots of action with the orange play dough this week!  Play dough is not only super fun to squish and roll it is also a perfect sensory and fine motor skill activity.   The social interaction and countless opportunities for "sharing" while the kids use the play dough tools is priceless too!
The knew easel got some good use this week.  The girls even sang an original song while they painted!

We had an apple and leaf store outside!

Davis found the scooper and some balls and came up with his own creative took lots of concentration!  It was awesome to watch!

Sam worked hard at building roads...with his special apron and road building tool!

       We had dancing girls!
We hunted for bugs and found loads of stink bugs!

                                                                 We shared again!

Look forward to seeing everyone next week!
Have a great weekend, Joy

Lots Of Dancing and Spinning (spin art that is)!

When I look back at the photos from our reminds me how incredibly lucky we are to have this group!  The children teach and remind me how to be in the moment and how to simply enjoy life!  They inspire me!
I love to set up the environment for the children each week, but what I love most is watching how the children use their imaginations and magically make something so simple so incredibly special :).  Adding a few dress ups to our "outdoor classroom" this week suddenly had two dancing princesses and a few Daddy's.

There were a few tears when one of the Princesses decided she no longer wanted to dance, but with a little help with the "words" the princess was able to say, "I don't want to dance right now" and it was all good! Sometimes children just need a little help with the words!  This just proves once again that the "work" of childhood is "play."  They are learning the in's and out's of is HARD work!  It takes practice to and lot's of real experience!

The dancing princesses and one of the Daddy's in his apron!

Davis found a pot holder in the dress-up bag and said, "I'm cleaning the garage."

                                              We cooked and baked!

We made some colorful Spin Art this week!

Carson asked if she could paint on the small easel and we made our own paint brushes from a few sticks!  It worked perfectly and Carson discovered she made "gold" paint by mixing the orange and yellow she chose.

We shared!

We visited and explored the garden.

                Running, chasing and exploring!

                                          NEXT WEEK:

We will make yummy warm apple sauce!  If you want to bring a few apples of your own you can! If you have a crab apple tree with fruit that has fallen..please bring some to show us!

Can't wait to see everyone again.  Thank you parents for bringing your children each week!  Have a great weekend, Joy

Exploring and Experimenting

So happy the weather cleared up! Loved spending the day outside.  We welcomed Heather, Scott (and his baby brother) to our group this week! So happy you joined us!

There was lot's of digging and shoveling going on!
The children worked hard and loved it!

I love how our days always flow so naturally...the children leading the way!  As the children were digging on Wednesday, Sam said "Im digging for worms."  This led to a worm and bug hunt!  And we found lots of ants, and rolly pollies!

We had fun making nature pies and cakes!

And we were Scientists experimenting with baking soda and vinegar.  Children love observing the fizzing chemical fun!

And of course we shared!  I love watching the children's faces when they are in the spot lot as we sing the sharing song....

We took a walk and explored the gardens again.  We found more vegetables growing.  One of the parents spotted some sleeping bees.  I did a little research and yes the bees were indeed sleeping.  When it gets a little chilly they take a rest until their wings warm up, so they can fly again!

And we read some good books and wore silly hats! Thanks for another terrific week!  Have a great weekend!   Joy
